Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the Bank’s domestic lending programs (including Commercial Real Estate and other products), ensuring alignment with the Bank’s risk appetite and strategic objectives. Partner with Sales Divisions and senior management to evaluate and structure credit opportunities in accordance with underwriting standards. Approve and/or oversee complex transactions, ensuring appropriate risk-adjusted returns. Provide ongoing guidance to Relationship Managers and Division Heads on credit quality and structuring, identify cross-sell opportunities, and present credit requests, policy matters, and key risk developments to management, MLCC, BLCC, and/or the Board, as appropriate.
- Provide oversight of the domestic loan portfolio, ensuring timely reviews, accurate risk ratings, and effective identification and escalation of emerging risks. Monitor portfolio trends, concentrations, and performance to support asset quality and earnings stability.
- Oversee Loss Mitigation and Special Assets, including past-due loans, criticized/classified assets, and OREO. Ensure effective resolution strategies, including restructurings, collections, and foreclosures, and maintain timely risk rating updates, collateral valuations, and reporting of problem assets.
- Lead and develop credit teams, ensuring adherence to policies, regulatory requirements, and sound credit practices. Promote a culture of accountability, risk discipline, and continuous improvement, in coordination with Human Resources.
- Maintain strong cross-functional partnerships with Sales, Operations, Compliance, Legal, and other units to align growth with prudent risk management. Ensure consistency in underwriting, credit decisions, and portfolio monitoring while supporting a client-focused approach.

- Assist other divisions with reporting, analytics, and strategic initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned by senior management
Qualifications:
- Perform all duties in accordance with the Vision and Values of the Bank
- Lead development and presentation of credit policy changes to senior management and Board-level committees
- Extensive knowledge of applicable lending laws, regulations, and supervisory expectations
- Ensure all domestic loan applications are evaluated and approved in accordance with policy and risk tolerances
- Maintain deep expertise in credit products and full understanding of credit policy and approval authorities
- Demonstrated ability to oversee complex credit analysis and structuring
- Comprehensive banking knowledge across commercial, CRE, construction, residential, and consumer lending
- Advanced understanding of financial analysis, accounting principles, and risk assessment
- Monitor portfolio performance, identify deterioration trends, and advise executive management
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams
- Work closely with Sales to balance client experience with risk discipline
- Oversee and enhance monitoring processes (including ABL, construction lending, and periodic reviews)
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting, Finance or similar with an advanced degree preferred along with a minimum of 12-15 years in credit leadership roles with financial institutions.
- Extensive expertise in financial analysis and credit evaluation
- Strong underwriting capabilities with sound credit judgment
- Comprehensive knowledge of banking products, including loans and deposits
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts concisely
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound, timely decisions
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet critical deadlines
- Strong organizational and leadership skills in managing tasks, projects, and teams
Language Skills: Excellent Written/Verbal skills. Ability to speak Spanish and/or Portuguese is a plus
